A New Year’s resolution

You’re gone beyond my reach 
like every guy before,

so now I pray and hope 
to fall in love no more

to avoid my feelings 
ending up yet again

trampled deep into dust 
by oblivious men.

I always fall in love 
only with the wrong guys,

so it’s the highest time
I put it to demise.

No more I wanna go
through all of this heart pain.

Relationships are hard,
just driving me insane.

I’d better stay alone,
perfectly safe and sound.

I’ll never let my feet
be swept off the firm ground

by anybody’s touch
or sugary-sweet words.

They’ve never proven true,
just my heart always hurts.

I shouldn’t be feeling
whatever I now do,

passionate attraction
to the unworthy you.

I should strive to kill it
and with it also all

my interest in men.
That shall be my end goal!
