From afar

For a while you were a star
that brightened up my whole life.
But now I know, I sure do,
I don’t have to be with you
as your lover and then wife,
I can love you from afar.

For love’s a feeling and not
a physical position.
It has many different forms
irrespective of the norms,
and a two-way relation
is not everybody’s lot.

I can love through little things
I secretly do for you.
I can pray for you so that
you stay healthy and great at
all that you already do,
despite anything life flings

at you, and that you succeed
in any business you start.
I wish you the best of luck,
may you never feel no lack,
from the bottom of my heart,
regardless if it does bleed.

I can buy products you make
and, drinking them, ruminate
about the one night we had,
that got stuck inside my head.
Although we may never date,
you can trust my love’s not fake.

And whenever I miss you
so much it’s unbearable,
I can write you poetry
in a new creative spree.
Don’t worry, I won’t trouble
you by showing it to you.

But if you stumble upon
it, don’t hold me liable.
I only send positive
thoughts down your way, may you live
a life happy and stable.
