Homo sapiens sapiens

I’m Homo sapiens sapiens, or so they say.
Thus a primitive urge like love can’t hold sway
over me neither dictate my behaviour.
I should only trust reason, that’s the saviour,
and not get disturbed by lowly emotions
driven by stupid hormonal reactions.
I am too developed a creature for that.
So vivat reason, love should have long been dead!
For it can’t be trusted, unlike the reason
which, you can rely, won’t commit a treason
against yourself. It’ll never deal such a blow.
Reason’s infallible and now doubly so.
