Love-hate relationship

I love you, my dear darling,
but you just hate me for it.
I don’t know how to fix it
and like a crap I’m feeling.

I’m trying to keep what you
asked of me, though my heart’s sore.
I keep my distance. What more
shall I do to appease you?

While still treating you kindly,
I respect your decision,
but call for its revision
and change to terms more friendly.

To get on I wish we knew.
Please, bury the hate hatchet.
Instead, let’s try to patch it
between us and start anew.
