Magnets
Every time I see you, tender warmth fills my chest.
I still have all these feelings for you, I attest,
and don’t know what to do with them. My heart is set
on you, who attracts me like a giant magnet.
The thing with magnets is that opposites attract
each other. That is a basic natural fact.
But with us it’s not like that, not entirely.
If you just gave it a chance, you would see clearly
that we indeed have more in common than you think.
Though I may not be a coffee lover and drink
only cold brew, nor a passionate sportsperson,
like you, there are other shared things we can build on.
For example, I too am excited about
flying ever since going on my first plane route
and it is my dream to fly a hot air balloon
one day, though some may think me for it a buffoon.
I also like travelling and hikes in nature,
learning ’bout and admiring many a feature
found in it, amazing for their variety.
Nature brings peace of mind and raises piety.
However, unlike you, I don’t have any friends
likeminded who’d be available on weekends
or other days, or just generally eager
to go with me. And thus now my form is meagre.
And I love animals too. Bunnies and horses
in particular. It’s another of my dreams
yet unfulfilled to learn to ride a horse. It’s sure
a magnificent and intelligent creature.
As for other kinds of pets and domestic stock—
I’d even gladly help you take care of your flock
of chickens and fluffle of rabbits, knowing that
now all that care of them is on you, my poor mate.
You see? We’d have so much to share and bond over,
thus always have what to talk about; moreover,
while still having individual interests
providing space to learn from each other in vasts.
