On New Year’s Eve

After my experience so far, it appears
that the reasonable thing to wish for the next year(s)
is that I become a better Christian than I am
currently—a one who’s without any of those damn
pestering romantic and sexual desires,
dedicating my life only to serving others.
 

I wish that solely work and religion were enough
to make me happy and feel I live a fulfilled life,
without these feelings depending on anybody’s
presence in my life, least of all a guy’s. Oh, Lord, please,
give me the strength to live independently and be
content with such a fate. Please, do have mercy on me.
