One can’t have it all

Luck in games implies unluck in love, it’s said.
And the same applies to work and love, I’d add.
I already have my dream job, so it seems
that I can’t also have the boy of my dreams.
That would be just too much luck for one at once.
That’s simply contrary to how the world runs.

So much luck and happiness aggregated
in one person’s life would sure incite hatred
and envy in other people and, therefore,
make one’s life just miserable all the more.
And if not, then such convergence of luck would
turn the whole universe off its habitude

by creating around one some real baleful
events. That’s why it’s practically unlawful.
It’s almost like the eleventh commandment:
one can have either love, relationship, and
happy family or successful career,
but not both at the same time. That’s the truth sheer.
